What makes this an interesting moment to watch, though, is the yard behind it. Trainer Adrian McGuinness, based at Lusk in County Dublin, has sent out 45 winners already this season — a genuinely productive operation that clearly knows how to get a horse ready to win. When a stable is firing at that kind of volume, it tends to mean they have a plan for every horse on the books, even the ones still waiting for their moment.
Kart of Gold raced just one day ago, so it is very much a horse in active campaign. At three years old, there is still time for things to click. Not every horse finds its stride immediately, and six races is not a huge sample. The question is whether McGuinness can find the right opportunity — the right race, the right conditions — to unlock whatever potential brought this horse into training in the first place.
