Kap De Cerisy
Dan Skelton is having a remarkable season — 194 winners from his yard in Alcester is the kind of output that puts a trainer firmly among the elite in British racing. So when one of her horses steps out and finishes sixth from sixth place in its only race, it is worth keeping things in perspective. Kap De Cerisy is a 6-year-old with just one race on the board, and that sole outing ended without a win or even a place, leaving the record at nothing from one.

That said, one race tells you almost nothing. Horses can have off days, take time to settle into racing, or simply need the experience of that first run before things click. The fact that Kap De Cerisy raced just one day ago means whatever happened is very fresh — this is a horse very much at the start of its story rather than the end of one.
With Skelton's team behind it and a busy, successful yard providing the platform, there is every reason to watch what comes next.
