Kaboom is a two-year-old still finding its feet in the racing game. The horse has had two outings so far and is yet to finish in the top three, most recently finishing fourth just a day ago. Before that came a sixth-place finish, suggesting the early races have been tough lessons.
Richard Hannon's yard, based in Wiltshire, is one of the busier operations in British racing — it has already sent out 118 winners this season — so there is clearly confidence in the young horse's potential, even if the track results haven't arrived yet. For a two-year-old at this early stage, two races without a top-three finish is hardly unusual; plenty of horses take time to work out what racing is all about. Whether Kaboom bounces back quickly or needs a bit longer to develop will become clearer over the coming weeks.
