Its most recent win came at Windsor on 22 June, just over two months ago, which suggests the horse still has something to offer. Before that, it had shown up in the placings three times in four races, finishing third and fifth and placing again — form that hints at consistency even when it is not winning.

The workmanlike recent run, including an eighth-place finish five days before its last outing, suggests Just Jump is a battler rather than a star, the sort of horse that turns up, tries hard, and occasionally gets its day in the sun.
