Just Jump

The last six outings tell an interesting story. After that Windsor win, results have been patchy — a fifth place followed by a third, then three runs without recording a place. But just one day ago, Just Jump was back on the track, most recently active and still in the yard's plans. Trainer Tony Carroll, based at Cropthorne in Worcestershire, continues to find opportunities for the horse. Carroll's yard has been prolific this season, sending out 136 winners, so there is clearly no shortage of racing for his inmates. The most frequent rider is J M Sheridan, though the partnership has managed just one win from nine races together — a rate of 11 percent. That single victory could be the foundation for better things if the pairing can build on it.

Just Jump will need to find consistency in the months ahead. With six placings from 27 races, the horse shows enough ability to compete, and that Windsor win proved it can still go out and win at the right conditions. If Tony Carroll can keep pointing it at races over 7 furlongs to a mile, there may be more opportunities ahead.
