His recent form makes for fairly grim reading: he hasn't won in his last six races, and a second place tucked in among those runs is the closest he's come to recapturing that winning feeling. The form figures of a sixteenth place finish in there suggest he can have his off days badly, too.

Where he does show a flicker of something more promising is when the race is run over a longer distance. At a mile and six furlongs to two miles, he has won 1 from 8 races — a 12% win rate, or roughly 1 in every 8 attempts at that trip. That might not sound dramatic, but compared to his overall record it stands out clearly: this horse simply gets better when he's asked to travel further. If you were going to pick one race shape to suit him, it would be a test of stamina.

Jockey Robyn Donaghue-Leahy has partnered him most regularly, riding him in 12 of his 24 races and taking that one win together — an 8% win rate, or 1 win every 12 rides. That's a working relationship built on familiarity if not fireworks. He's trained by Patrick J Flynn out of Carrick-On-Suir in County Waterford, a yard that has sent out 10 winners this season, so the operation clearly knows how to get horses to the track in winning form. The question is whether Just Another Eagle has another winning day left in him. He raced just yesterday, so he's very much still in active campaigning — and somewhere in that record, there's a horse capable of winning when the stars align.
