Just A Poet

What makes this worth watching is that the horse is still active, having raced just 25 days ago, so the story is far from over. Trained by Daragh Bourke out of a yard in Waterbeck in Dumfries and Galloway, Just A Poet at least has competent hands around it. Bourke's team has sent out 11 winners already this season, which shows this is a yard that knows how to get a horse ready to perform. The question is simply whether Just A Poet can find a race that suits.

With only two runs on the board, it would be unfair to write this horse off entirely — some take time to hit their stride, and two races is a very small sample. But for now, the evidence is what it is: two outings, two seventh-place finishes, and still waiting for a breakthrough.
