Jack's A Legend

The numbers tell a story of a consistent but modest performer. From 15 career races, Jack's A Legend has won just once—a 7 per cent win rate—and finished in the top 3 in four other races. Recent form has been particularly lean. In the last six races, the horse has finished 3rd, 12th, 4th, 7th, 3rd, and 3rd again. There are encouraging signs in that sequence—three third-place finishes in the last four outings suggest the horse can still compete and run respectably—but the lack of a win for 35 months is hard to spin as anything other than a lengthy drought.

At Class 3 level, the horse has drawn a blank entirely, winning none of its three races at that standard. This is a horse that operates best in smaller fields, against less demanding opposition. Yet the Flint yard remains active and competitive, having sent out eight winners already this season, so Jack's A Legend continues to race regularly. The horse ran just one day ago, which means it is very much still part of the yard's plans. For a horse this old and with this record, continued employment is itself a kind of loyalty. Whether another win comes before Jack's A Legend retires is now the question, but on this form, that next victory will take some finding.
