Izzy's Grey

Lee Edwards has been the regular partner for much of that journey, riding Izzy's Grey in 10 of those 16 races without managing to get the horse over the line. That kind of long-term combination usually suggests the yard believes there is something worth persevering with, but so far the results haven't rewarded that faith. Class 5 is the level where Izzy's Grey competes most often — these are the more accessible, entry-level contests in British racing — and yet even there, the horse is yet to win from eight attempts. That is the detail that stands out most sharply. Class 5 is precisely where a horse like this should theoretically find a weak enough field to break through.

What is slightly encouraging is that the recent form figures of 4-4-6 show Izzy's Grey finishing in the first half of the field in the last two runs, having been further back before that. The horse raced just yesterday, so the yard are clearly still committed. Whether that consistency just outside the places eventually translates into a first win remains the question — but after 16 races, it is a question that is getting harder to answer with optimism.
