Ivat Ghia

Trained by Mark Usher in Berkshire, Ivat Ghia is at least in capable hands. Usher's yard has sent out 14 winners already this season, which shows the operation knows how to get horses ready to perform. The fact that this particular three-year-old hasn't clicked yet doesn't reflect badly on the stable — young horses can take time to find their feet, and three races is still a small sample. What matters is that Ivat Ghia raced just one day ago, meaning this is a horse very much in active training and in the middle of its story rather than at the end of it.

Whether a step up or drop in distance, a change in conditions, or simply a bit more experience does the trick remains to be seen. For now, Ivat Ghia is one of racing's works in progress — and those can be the most interesting horses of all to follow.
