Its Not Over Yet

The two wins are worth noting. The first came at Tipperary in July 2024, and the second followed at Roscommon that September. Back-to-back course wins in the space of three months suggested something was clicking. Unfortunately, that was the peak of it. Since that Roscommon victory — now 20 months ago — the horse has gone six races without a win, with recent finishes of 9th, 4th, 12th, 4th, 5th, and 3rd reading as the form of a horse that tries hard but keeps falling just short of the moment. A third place last time out is at least something to work with.

Jockey Phillip Enright has been the regular partner throughout most of this journey, riding the horse in 12 of its 21 races. Together they have won twice — a win rate of roughly 1 in every 6 races when paired up, which is actually meaningfully better than the horse's overall record. That suggests the partnership works, even if wins have dried up lately. Trainer Oliver McKiernan, based at Rathcoole in County Dublin, has six winners on the board this season, so the yard is clearly capable of producing results. Whether this horse can add to that tally is the open question.

It raced just yesterday, which is a reminder that this is an active, racing-fit horse still being targeted and campaigned. The name feels less like a statement and more like a challenge — and given those two wins in the summer and autumn of 2024, there's at least some evidence the horse can deliver when conditions suit. Whether that moment comes again is anyone's guess, but the trainer clearly hasn't given up on it.
