Its Not Over Yet

Both career wins came in a four-month window in 2024 — first at Tipperary in July, then at Roscommon at the end of September. That second win was 22 months ago now, and the horse hasn't managed to get back to the winner's enclosure since. Six races without a win, the most recent coming just yesterday. And yet it keeps finding its way into the frame — four places from those 22 career races tells you this is a horse that tries, even when the win isn't coming.

The partnership with jockey Phillip Enright is arguably the most interesting thread running through this story. In 12 races together, they've won twice — a win rate of 17%, which works out to roughly 1 in every 6 races. That's nearly double the horse's overall win rate, and it suggests Enright understands this horse in a way that not every rider has. When those two have clicked, the results have spoken for themselves.

Oliver McKiernan trains the horse out of Rathcoole in County Dublin, and his yard has sent out six winners already this season — so this is an operation in decent form. The question is whether Its Not Over Yet can find a moment to add to that tally. The recent run of form — finishing eighth, third, fifth, fourth, a distant twelfth, then fourth — is a mixed bag. The third place shows there's still something there. The twelfth suggests there are days when it simply isn't happening. That's the reality of a horse at this level: inconsistent, occasionally brilliant, usually somewhere in the middle.

With a race just yesterday under its belt, the fitness is clearly there. Whether the win is coming is another matter entirely — but then, as the name keeps reminding you, it's not over yet.
