Its Not Over Yet

What keeps the story alive is the consistency of the setup. Jockey Phillip Enright has been the regular partner throughout much of this horse's career, riding in 11 of the 19 races and picking up both wins along the way — a win rate of roughly 1 in every 6 rides together, which is actually a decent return at this level. That kind of long-term partnership matters: a jockey who knows a horse well can find an extra half-length that a stranger can't. The first win came at Tipperary in July 2024, the second at Roscommon two months later, and both tracks are modest, rural Irish venues where smaller fields and less traffic can suit horses who need things to fall right.

Oliver McKiernan trains the horse from Rathcoole, just outside Dublin, and the yard has sent out four winners this season — a small but active operation. Its Not Over Yet raced just yesterday, which tells you the team still believes there's a race to be won with this horse somewhere. Whether the name turns out to be hopeful or ironic depends entirely on what comes next.
