Both of those wins have come very recently — first at Ayr on 19 June 2026, then at Musselburgh just days later on 30 June. Winning back-to-back races is genuinely hard to do in this sport, and doing it at eight years old, when most horses are well past their peak, makes it all the more eyebrow-raising. She has clearly found conditions or distances that suit her, and the team around her have been smart enough to identify that.

Those conditions appear to be the longer distances. Over 1 mile 6 furlongs to 2 miles — the stamina-heavy end of the spectrum — she has won 2 of 10 races, a 20% win rate. That means she wins 1 in every 5 races at those trips, which is a sharp return for a horse whose overall record is considerably more modest. Racehorses often have a distance that simply clicks for them, where their particular engine finds its rhythm, and Is She Now has found hers.

She is trained by Daragh Bourke, based at Waterbeck in Dumfries and Galloway, a yard that has sent out 10 winners already this season — a solid, productive operation. Regular jockey Robbie Colgan has partnered her nine times without a win between them, which is a curious footnote given her recent successes have come with others aboard. It suggests the current partnership might be worth watching to see who rides her next.

At eight years old and racing just yesterday, Is She Now is a horse very much in the thick of things. Whether this late-career purple patch continues or fades is the question — but right now, she is as interesting a watch as any horse on the northern circuit.
