Irish Chorus

The career numbers tell an interesting story on their own. Four wins and eight places from 16 races, a win rate of 25% — roughly one in every four races — is a solid return at any level, but the recent form makes it look almost conservative. Earlier in that career record there were clearly quieter spells, and Alan King, who trains Irish Chorus from his yard in Wroughton, Wiltshire, has spoken about giving the horse time and space to develop — noting that a break helped her grow both physically and mentally, and that she would eventually want further than two miles. It sounds like a trainer who knew exactly what he had, and was prepared to wait for it.

King's yard has been in excellent form this season, sending out 58 winners, so Irish Chorus is part of an operation that knows how to get horses ready to race. The first career win came at Leicester in December 2025, which means everything since has been built on a foundation that is less than six months old — yet already the horse has added Warwick to the list, winning there twice from three visits. Two wins from three races at any course is the kind of record that makes you want to check the entries whenever Warwick appears on the schedule.

The one mild puzzle in the profile is the partnership with jockey Tom Cannon. He has ridden Irish Chorus six times without a win between them — and yet the horse has clearly been winning with others in the saddle. That is not necessarily a criticism of either horse or jockey; these things happen, and combinations sometimes just do not click. What matters right now is that Irish Chorus is winning, winning often, and doing so at a level — Class 4, the bread and butter of the sport — where a horse in this kind of form is genuinely difficult to beat.
