Inventor

Ridden most often by W J Lee, with whom he has won once from eight races together, Inventor is trained by Gillian Scott at Ballingarry in Limerick. The yard is a small operation that has sent out three winners this season, which sets the scale of the training establishment. Inventor raced as recently as yesterday, so he remains an active runner, but his failure to add to that sole victory in over four years hints at a horse who has plateaued—still game enough to turn up and race, but no longer capable of catching his rivals when it matters. At this stage of his career and with such limited winning form, every day that passes without another victory makes that second triumph feel less like the next stepping stone and more like a distant anomaly.
