Intellotto

The most striking thing about Intellotto is what happens when the weather turns nasty. On very wet, muddy ground, this horse has won 2 from 3 races — that is a 67% win rate, which is frankly extraordinary. On normal ground the record drops to 2 wins from 6 races, still a solid 33%, but clearly the worse the conditions get, the better Intellotto goes. Some horses are fair-weather performers; this one is almost the opposite.

The career began to take shape on 27 December 2023, when Intellotto broke through for a first win at Leopardstown — a track with a long tradition of Boxing Day and festive racing — before adding another landmark win at Limerick on 22 May 2025. Regular partner J J Slevin has ridden the horse in 5 of its 18 races, picking up 1 win together, a 20% win rate that mirrors the overall career average almost exactly.

Recent form tells an interesting story. Reading the last six runs from most recent backwards — 19, 4, 27, 3, 3, 1 — you can see a horse that won, then ran well twice, then had a couple of difficult days, before a very quiet run most recently. That last figure, the 19th-place finish, is the one to watch, though Intellotto raced just 16 days ago and remains active, so the team at Hitchins' yard clearly have plans. Hitchins herself has sent out 13 winners this season, which suggests a yard operating with confidence and momentum.

The question now is whether Intellotto can find that combination of soft ground and the right race to add a fifth career win. When the rain comes, this is a horse worth keeping a close eye on.
