Whether Independent Jimmy has a genuine affinity for the place remains to be seen from one visit, but it is worth noting. That is a horse running consistently well, not one scraping around the edges of the field.

He has been off the track for around four months now, which is a meaningful absence. Horses can come back sharper or rustier — there is no way to know until the gates open.
