On a standard, unexceptional surface, this horse has won 3 of its 8 races — that is 38%, or better than one in three, which is a remarkable conversion rate at any level. Stretch the race out beyond two miles and the record reads 2 wins from 9 races, which is roughly one in every four and a half. Both figures suggest a horse that needs things set up just right, but when they are, it delivers.

The two biggest moments of Inappropriate's career have come at the top end of the sport. Wins at Newcastle in November 2024 and at Musselburgh in March 2025 were both Class 2 races — among the better quality contests in Britain — which means this is not a horse scraping around at the bottom of the pile. Winning twice at that level takes genuine ability, and it explains why the team based in Hawick, a yard that has sent out 28 winners this season alone, have persisted with the horse at higher grades.
