His form over the past six races tells the story of a horse firing consistently. He opened with a win, then finished second, third, sixth, second again, and fifth — that cluster of placed finishes around a victory shows a horse that stays competitive when he is not winning outright. Conor O'Farrell has ridden him eight times and won twice from those rides, a 25% win rate, and their pairing at Musselburgh appears to be where the magic happens. Normal ground conditions suit him best, with four wins from nine races on standard conditions — he is not a horse for testing surfaces.

Where Inappropriate struggles is in higher-grade company. He has yet to win a race at Class 4 level, going zero from seven attempts, which tells you plainly where his ceiling lies. His sweet spot appears to be the longer trips, from a mile and six furlongs up to two miles, where he has won one from three races. His two Class 2 wins, at Newcastle in November 2024 and at Musselburgh in March 2025, were important days, but his everyday home is in competitive handicap racing where Whillans' yard knows exactly how to position him. With just one race in the last day, he is clearly active and being campaigned regularly — a horse still earning his keep at a respectable level.
