Trained by Mark Loughnane at Rock Farm in Worcestershire, In Denial is part of a yard that has hit some real form this season, sending out 25 winners. That kind of output from a trainer matters — it means Loughnane knows how to get a horse ready to win, and horses in good yards tend to find their moment eventually. The question for In Denial is simply when.
The recent run of results tells a mixed story. A third-place finish three races ago showed the ability is there to be competitive, but either side of that the horse has been finishing mid-pack or worse. A fifth, a seventh, a fourth, then that third, then a tenth and most recently a fifth — it is the kind of form that suggests a horse still finding its feet rather than one that has genuinely hit a ceiling. At three years old, that is not unusual. Plenty of horses this age take time to put it all together, and being trained by someone currently in such good form is a real asset when that moment arrives.
