The horse is trained by Andrew Balding at Kingsclere in Hampshire, one of the most successful yards in the country. Balding's operation has already sent out 202 winners this season, which tells you something about the quality of horsemanship and the caliber of animals passing through the gates. Imperial Nation will be schooled in a professional environment where winning is routine, not an exception. With just two races under its belt and two placings to show for it, there is every reason to think this young horse is on an upward curve. Time will tell whether those near misses turn into victories, but the early signs point to a horse that knows how to run a competitive race.
