In those conditions, this horse has won 3 times from just 5 attempts — that is a 60% win rate, which is extraordinary. Most decent racehorses win somewhere between 10 and 25 percent of their races across a career, so winning three in every five on a particular surface is the kind of stat that makes a trainer sit up. When the ground is normal, Impartiality is a completely different proposition.

The partnership with jockey Shane Gray is worth noting too. Of the seven times they have raced together, they have won twice — that is winning 2 in every 7, or just under 30%, which comfortably beats the horse's overall average. Some horses just click with a particular rider, and this looks like one of those combinations. A finish of second is in there, which shows the ability has not vanished, but the double-figure placings point to races where things simply did not go to plan.

Raced just yesterday, Impartiality is clearly an active, busy horse. The question now is whether the right combination of normal ground, Shane Gray in the saddle, and a race pitched at the right level can unlock another winner before the season is out.
