Impartiality

The most striking feature of Impartiality's record is how long it has been since a victory. It last won at Chester on 13 June 2025, and has not tasted the winner's circle in its last six races, finishing second or third in most of them — a stretch of close-call finishes that suggests a horse hanging on at the right level without quite getting its nose in front when it matters. Its first win came at Beverley on 16 April 2025, and that early success at Chester marked a high point 16 months ago. Since then, despite regular appearances on the track, the wins have simply dried up.

There are clues to where this horse might be competitive. On normal ground conditions, Impartiality has a fifty-fifty record: three wins from six races, a striking proportion that makes soft or muddy ground its danger ground for rivals. Over distances between seven furlongs and a mile, it has won twice from nine attempts, suggesting that middle distance suits it better than sprints or longer races. Most promisingly, in Class 5 company — horses at the bottom rung of serious racing — Impartiality has won two of six races, a win rate of 33 percent that is substantially better than its overall figure.

Shane Gray, the jockey who has ridden Impartiality most often, has a notably strong record aboard: two wins from seven races together, a 29 percent win rate that is nearly double the horse's career average. That partnership suggests the combination has found a rhythm, and may be worth following when conditions align — normal ground, the right distance, the lower class levels, and Gray in the saddle.
