Ice Jet

Both wins have come in the space of just a few days, which is worth pausing on. The first arrived at Huntingdon on 19 May 2026, and the second followed at Worcester on 22 May — this week. Back-to-back wins within days of each other is not something most horses manage; it suggests Ice Jet is in the form of its life right now and, crucially, that the team around it know exactly how to keep it running well. That team is trained by Dan Skelton, based at Alcester in Warwickshire, and this is one of the most productive yards in the country at the moment — 194 winners sent out this season alone. When a stable is firing at that rate, horses in form tend to stay in form.

The distance picture is also telling. Ice Jet has won 2 of its 6 races over longer trips of two miles or more — that is a win rate of 33%, or roughly 1 in every 3 races at that trip. Compare that to its record in Class 4 company specifically — the level it most often competes at — where it has yet to win from three attempts. That particular stat is a bit of a puzzle given the recent results, but it may simply reflect that the right combination of distance and conditions has now been found. When horses find their sweet spot, the numbers can change quickly.

Raced just yesterday and still active, Ice Jet is very much in the middle of its story rather than at the end of it. Whether this week's double is a peak or the beginning of a longer purple patch is the interesting question — but right now, this is a horse that Dan Skelton's yard will be looking at with considerable interest.
