The level it races at is worth noting. Class 5 is towards the lower end of the racing ladder, and Ibiza Lights has drawn a blank in all three starts at that level. That said, four races is still a relatively small sample for a young horse, and there is time for the picture to change.

What does offer some encouragement is where the horse is trained. Michael Bell's operation in Newmarket has sent out 47 winners this season, which is a genuinely productive yard by any measure — Newmarket itself is one of the heartlands of British racing, home to some of the sport's most respected stables. A horse trained there has access to good facilities and experienced hands. Whether Ibiza Lights can start repaying that investment with some improved form is the question the team will be hoping to answer very soon — the horse ran just yesterday, so another outing cannot be far away.
