The recent form tells a familiar story: ninth, sixth, ninth, sixth, then a break, then thirteenth. Those results show a horse bouncing between mid-field and the back of the field, without the spark needed to mount a serious challenge. At eight years old, Iamcelestialgift is at an age when many horses either find their groove or begin the slow fade. For this one, the trend has been downward since that single victory nearly two years ago. The yard—David Killahena and Graeme McPherson's operation at Stow-on-the-Wold in Gloucestershire—has had a respectable season with 18 winners to their name, but Iamcelestialgift has not been the source of any of those. Still, the horse raced just a day ago, which means the yard are not ready to give up on it yet. Whether another trip to the winner's circle awaits remains to be seen, but the clock is ticking.
