I Shut That d'Or

His most recent win came at Hereford on 15 January 2025, where he showed the kind of grit that defines a genuine chaser. Tom Cannon, who rode him that day, noted that I Shut That d'Or was a bit outpaced early but settled into a rhythm, crept his way into contention, and battled all the way to the finish — exactly the patient performance you want from a horse with a history of boiling over. Brendan Powell, his regular partner, has ridden him 13 times and won twice, and post-race comment after a Plumpton victory suggested Powell knew what the horse was capable of before he even left the yard that day.

With Joe Tizzard's Milborne Port yard sending out 52 winners this season alone, I Shut That d'Or is in a stable firing on all cylinders. He raced just yesterday, so he is fit and active. His recent form reads 5-–-3-5-5-1 (most recent first), which shows a win followed by a run of mid-field finishes — hardly spectacular, but not the work of a horse past his best. At eight, he is in his prime years for a chaser. A horse that used to bolt is now winning races on merit. That is genuine progress.
