I See The Sea

Both of those victories have come at the kind of races where I See The Sea belongs — Class 5, the entry-level tier of British racing, where the competition is beatable and the horse has won 2 from 11 attempts at that level, or about 1 in every 5 or 6 tries. That's a meaningful distinction. Put it in tougher company and it hasn't managed a win; keep it where it's comfortable and there's a real chance. The first of those victories came at Wincanton in March 2025, and the second at Catterick Bridge in November 2025 — two very different tracks, which at least shows the horse isn't entirely one-dimensional.

The four months since that Catterick win, though, tell a less encouraging story. Six races without a win, a recent run that ended in seventh, and two blanks mixed in along the way. The horse did manage a second and a third in that stretch, so it hasn't fallen off a cliff — but the winning thread has gone cold. Trainer Christopher Kellett, based in Lathom in Lancashire, has sent out seven winners this season, so the yard is producing — just not through this particular horse right now.

The jockey pairing with Micheal Nolan is one worth noting, and not in a flattering way. Nolan has ridden I See The Sea seven times without a win between them — 0 from 7. That's not necessarily anybody's fault; jockeys ride the horses they're put on, and partnerships go through barren runs. But it's a combination that hasn't clicked yet.

The horse raced just yesterday, which makes it one of the more active animals around at the moment. Whether that freshness or fatigue plays into its next run remains to be seen — but for a horse that wins roughly 1 in 10, and closer to 1 in 6 at its preferred level, the opportunity is always there.
