Win rate and top-3 rate will show once this horse has raced.
What counts for something, though, is the trainer. Clive Cox runs one of Britain's most successful yards at Lambourn in Berkshire, and he has already sent out 48 winners this season alone. That is the kind of win rate that matters. Cox has a gift for getting two-year-olds ready and pointing them at races they can win, and his team does not waste time with horses that are not up to it. If I Know You By Now is running, it is because Cox believes there is something there to work with. That is as close to a guarantee as you get before a debut. The horse will be fit, schooled in what to expect, and aimed at a race the yard thinks it can win.
Everything else is mystery. Will the pedigree translate into actual speed? Does the horse handle the racecourse? How does it react to other runners, to noise, to the whole carnival of it? A debut tells you everything or nothing — sometimes a horse runs like it has been doing this for years, other times it needs a race under its belt to settle. Either way, I Know You By Now is worth watching.
