I Heard A Rumour is a five-year-old who has yet to find the winner's enclosure. The horse has run three times without a win or a place finish, most recently finishing fourth twelve days ago. Before that came a seventh-place effort, suggesting a pattern of races outside the frame. With Dan Skelton's Alcester yard firing on all cylinders—187 winners sent out this season alone—there is clearly scope for improvement if the horse can break through and start delivering a return on investment.
