Hurt You Never

The most striking thing about Hurt You Never is what she does at Hamilton Park. In six races at the Scottish track, she has won four of them — that is two out of every three visits ending in victory, which is the kind of record that makes a trainer keep putting it in the diary. Her last win came there in August 2025, and it is clearly a place where everything clicks for her. Fast, dry ground also brings out the best in her: on those conditions she has won 8 from 21 races, a win rate of 38%, nearly double her overall average. When the sun has been out and the ground is quick, she becomes a different proposition.

Most of her racing has come at Class 6, the entry level of British racing, where she has won 8 from 29 races. She is not a horse built for the big occasions, but she is exactly the kind of tough, consistent performer who forms the backbone of a busy yard. Mia Nicholls, who rides her most often and is no coincidence given her father trains the horse, has won 5 of their 27 races together and described her as "really game… she just kept powering through." Adrian Nicholls is equally fond: "She's easy to train and ride. She's a superstar for us."

Her last six runs — finishing 15th, 3rd, 9th, 8th, 5th, 5th in reverse order — show the form has dipped, and she has not won in those six outings. But she only raced a day ago, she is clearly still being kept busy, and the yard has sent out 8 winners this season. A horse who has already won 14 races and specialises at a particular track does not simply stop being interesting. You get the sense Nicholls knows exactly when and where to point her next.
