Hurricane Honey

The recent form tells a quieter story. In the last six races, Hurricane Honey has managed one place finish, a second just over three weeks ago, but otherwise has been further back in the field—three tenth-place runs and an eleventh. Nothing catastrophic, but nothing to build momentum on either. The horse raced just a day ago and is still active, which speaks to a genuine trier that keeps getting chances.

Kieren Buckley is the jockey most often aboard, and interestingly, their partnership shows more promise than the broader record. Together they have a 20% win rate (1 win from 5 races), which is four times better than Hurricane Honey's overall win rate. That suggests either the jockey suits the horse, or there is something about how they work together that brings out a better performance. Trainer Simon Cavanagh, based at Mullingar, has a small but active yard. The fact that Hurricane Honey remains in training at seven years old and racing regularly suggests Cavanagh still sees something to work with, even if victories have dried up since the middle of last year.
