At that one track, it has won 2 of its 3 races — a two-in-three win rate that is genuinely remarkable. Most horses never find a track they love like this. Whether it is the tight, turning nature of the course or something about the ground there, Bangor brings out the best in this horse in a way that other venues simply do not. Its last win came there on 24 April 2025, which tells you the yard knows exactly where to point it when they want a result.

Away from Bangor, the picture is more modest. Hunter Legend competes mostly at Class 5 level — the bread and butter of British racing — and has won just 1 from 8 races at that level, or roughly one in eight. That contrast with its Bangor record is stark, and it suggests a horse that is probably performing close to its ceiling in terms of class, but one that can absolutely be competitive when the conditions are right.

The partnership with jockey Charlie Deutsch is worth highlighting. Together, they have won 4 of 13 races — nearly one in three, which is an excellent ratio. That is the kind of combination where horse and rider clearly understand each other. Trainer Venetia Williams, who operates out of Kings Caple in Herefordshire, has sent out 16 winners already this season, so the yard is in good form. Williams has a long-standing reputation for placing her horses shrewdly, and Hunter Legend looks like a prime example of that — a horse managed carefully, sent to the right tracks, and given time to recover between runs. The 43-day break since its last race suggests it arrives fresh, which for a nine-year-old with this much racing behind it is probably exactly what the team ordered.
