Recent form has been tougher. Homme Public hasn't won in his last six races, and the gap between his last victory and now—at Doncaster on 13 December 2024—stretches nearly two years. That kind of drought would concern most the yard, yet his trainer Oliver Greenall and co-trainer Josh Guerriero, based in Oldcastle, Cheshire, have not lost faith. In a recent stable visit, Greenall suggested the horse might benefit from returning to hurdles before being aimed at nice chases in spring, indicating there is still work to be done. The trainer noted that Homme Public gets two and a half miles and needs a strongly run race when stretched to two, suggesting he thrives when the pace is hot and the opposition is genuine.

His regular jockey, Toby Wynne, has ridden him 14 times for two wins (14%), but other riders have spoken warmly of him in the saddle. After his Doncaster win, jockey Henry Brooke described him with real affection: a horse without quite the ability to crack the very top tier but someone who shows up when called upon and is an absolute pleasure to ride. That's the real essence of Homme Public—not quite elite, but utterly dependable and genuinely likeable. He remains active and is clearly being prepared for one more campaign.
