The career has had a slightly unusual shape. Hitthehayson didn't land its first win until 29 September 2025 at Roscommon, then followed that up with a victory at Haydock Park on 3 December 2025 — two wins in the space of two months, across two very different tracks on opposite sides of the Irish Sea. That cross-channel win at Haydock is worth noting; Haydock is one of the stiffer tests in the north of England, and horses that can travel and perform like that tend to have real quality underneath.

Since that Haydock win, now seven months ago, it hasn't managed to add to the tally across six runs. The recent form of two second-place finishes mixed in with heavier defeats suggests a horse that can still produce something — it ran second twice in those last six outings — but hasn't quite been able to close the deal. At seven, it's not a horse in the first flush of youth, so the trainer Ian Patrick Donoghue at his yard in Clonalvy, County Meath will be working to find the right opportunity to get it back to winning ways. With 29 winners sent out this season, Donoghue's team are clearly in good form, which bodes well.

The jockey partnership with Conor Stone-Walsh is one of the more striking details on the page: three wins from seven rides together works out to winning 43% of their races as a pair — nearly every other time they team up, they win. That's a remarkable hit rate by any measure, and if Stone-Walsh is back in the saddle, it's a combination worth watching. Hitthehayson raced just one day ago, so it's clearly in active training and its the yard are keeping it busy — sometimes that persistence is exactly what finds a winner.
