Hitched

The most striking thing about Hitched is what it does at Lingfield Park. Four wins from 13 races there makes it a genuine course specialist — that's roughly 1 in every 3 races at that track turning into a victory, which is a much better ratio than its overall record of 1 in 5. Some horses just click with a particular venue, whether it's the shape of the track, the surface, or simply familiarity, and Lingfield is clearly where Hitched is most dangerous.

The partnership with jockey Luke Morris is worth noting too. In 20 races together they have won 6 times — that's 30%, or roughly 3 in every 10 rides — which is meaningfully better than Hitched's overall win rate. When those two are paired up, it tends to go well. Morris presumably knows this horse's quirks and gets the best out of it, and that kind of jockey-horse understanding can matter as much as raw ability at this level.

Hitched is trained by David Simcock at Newmarket, and Simcock's yard has been in fine form this season with 41 winners already. The most recent win came at Wolverhampton just two months ago in January 2026, and with Hitched having raced as recently as yesterday, it's clearly being kept busy. The recent form reads 13-4-–-–-5-1 — a win, then a couple of unplaced runs, then a fourth, then a win — which suggests a horse that goes through quiet patches but keeps finding a way back to the winner's enclosure.

Most of Hitched's career has been spent competing at Class 4, which sits in the middle of the racing ladder — solid, competitive races without quite reaching the top tier. At that level it has won 2 from 24, or roughly 1 in 12, which is modest. The Lingfield figures suggest there is a version of this horse that can do better than that, and with Simcock's yard firing and Morris in the saddle, the next chapter could yet be the best one.
