High Tower will step onto a racecourse for the first time as a complete unknown, which is exactly how every horse begins. A 2-year-old by Havana Grey out of a Street Cry mare, the horse carries decent bloodlines on both sides — Street Cry was a fast, classy runner who won over a mile, and that speed could show up here.
George Boughey, who trains at Newmarket, has sent out 99 winners this season alone, so the yard is in excellent form and clearly knows how to prepare young horses for their first outing. Whether High Tower has the talent to follow those 99 others into the winner's enclosure remains to be seen. Debut form tells you almost nothing — some horses click straightaway, others need time to learn the game. All that matters now is watching.
