High Honour's last win came at Sligo on 21 August 2024, nearly two years ago now. That was a step down — a Class 3 race — but before that, on 6 September 2022, it won a top-level Class 2 race at Goodwood, the same day it broke its maiden. That was High Honour's peak: a brilliant debut for such a horse, and nothing quite like it has happened since. In recent weeks, the form has been poor. Over the last six races, it has finished tenth, seventh, fourth, and fifteenth, with two races where it was pulled up. John Shinnick, its most frequent rider with 12 races in the saddle, has only one win aboard — the same rate as the horse's overall record.
There is something here, though, if the ground turns nasty. Distance-wise, High Honour performs best at around 1m1f to 1m2f — it has won 1 of 3 races at that trip. Come autumn and winter, when the tracks get waterlogged, and if Kinsella can find a wet-ground race at the right distance, High Honour might just remind people why it was capable of winning at the very top level on its day.
