The first came at Newmarket back in October 2021, under trainer Ralph Beckett, who at the time described the horse as "a nice horse" who had simply been unlucky in the lead-up — missing a valuable race at Newmarket ten days earlier due to a skin rash, getting into trouble in running at York. When the stars aligned, High Fibre delivered. Then the path took a turn. Harry Fry, who now trains the horse from his yard in Corscombe, Dorset, revealed in 2023 that there had been early ambitions for High Fibre as a youngster, before an injury on the Flat interrupted everything and forced a long reset. That kind of disruption derails plenty of horses entirely. This one kept coming back.
And it keeps coming back now. High Fibre raced just one day ago, which puts it among the busiest and most active horses in training. The most recent win came at Kempton Park in March 2026, four months ago, and the form since has been consistent without quite sparking — finishes of sixth, first, second, and two fifths in the following runs suggest a horse operating close to its ceiling but still competitive. One in every five races on normal ground ends in a win, which is a genuinely solid number — that 20% win rate across 15 races on standard conditions is one of the cleaner patterns in a career that has had its fair share of complications.
The one curiosity worth flagging is the partnership with regular jockey Bryan Carver. Eight races together, zero wins. That is a long run without a breakthrough, and whether that changes is one of the more interesting subplots as the season continues. Fry's yard has hit 26 winners this season, so there is clearly form in the stable. High Fibre has shown it can contribute to that tally. It just needs the pieces to fall right, the way they did at Kempton — and apparently, at Newmarket, all those years ago when a horse with a rash and a troubled preparation turned up and won anyway.
