High Calibre

The most encouraging sign is the recent trajectory. After finishes of sixth and sixth in the previous two races, High Calibre bounced back with that second-place run last time, then followed it up with a fifth-place finish most recently. For a young horse still learning the game, this kind of inconsistency is not unusual — the swings between a place and mid-field finishes show the horse has the ability to get competitive but hasn't yet put together the form to break through. Hannon's yard has been prolific this season with 118 winners, so High Calibre is in a stable that knows how to develop and get horses to the winner's enclosure. At this stage, it is simply a matter of time and repetition before this 2-year-old finds its rhythm.
