It raced just yesterday, which means it is bang in the middle of its season and being kept busy — always an encouraging sign that the people around the horse like what they're seeing at home. It is trained by Kevin Philippart De Foy out of Newmarket, one of the most famous racing towns in the world and home to some of Britain's sharpest yards. De Foy's operation has sent out 40 winners already this season, which marks it out as a yard in fine form — the kind of place that knows how to get the best out of a young horse. When a trainer keeps running a horse that hasn't won yet, it usually means they believe the win is coming.
Henley On Thames hasn't broken through yet, but two places from three races at age two, trained by someone clearly having a productive season, is a perfectly decent foundation. The next run will be worth keeping an eye on.
