What works in Havana Smile's favour is the quality of the operation behind it. Gary and Josh Moore, training out of Lower Beeding in West Sussex, have sent out 99 winners already this season — that is a yard firing on all cylinders, and horses in that kind of form tend to get their moments. When a stable is producing winners at that rate, it usually means the horses are fit, well-placed, and pointed at races they can win. Havana Smile is in good hands.
Having raced just yesterday, this is a horse very much in the middle of its campaign. Three-year-olds can improve sharply and quickly, and with a placed effort already on the board, the pieces are there. The win hasn't come yet — but with a busy, in-form yard behind it and youth on its side, it would be no surprise if that changes soon.
