The real story, though, is how much ground conditions matter to this horse. At Ripon specifically, it has won twice from six races, a respectable record at a course where consistency counts.

Where the cracks really show is at Class 4 level, where Havana Prince has failed to win from nine attempts. The horse's last victory came at Newcastle on 27 March 2026 — now seven months in the past — suggesting it may have peaked or simply run out of luck against stiffer competition. With David Nolan in the saddle, the numbers improve dramatically: four wins from 13 races, a 31% win rate that's noticeably better than the yard average. Trainer Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood, based near Norton in North Yorkshire, have built a competitive yard this season with 12 winners to their name. For Havana Prince to get back on track, conditions need to align — normal ground, a suitable distance, a jockey it trusts, and ideally a return to lower Class races where it can rediscover its winning form.
