Nine months have passed since that Exeter victory, and Hardy Buck has found the return to form difficult. His last six races tell the story: a place two runs ago, followed by a second, a seventh, another place, and then a miss. Ridden most often by James Turner over five races, the partnership has yet to land a win together, though Turner's association with the horse is recent enough that there is little pattern to draw. Trained by Max Comley at Warminster in Wiltshire, Hardy Buck operates in a stable that has sent out 18 winners this season—a modest but active yard. At eight years old and with just one career win, Hardy Buck is a horse with limited upside, but his recent activity suggests the team still believes there is racing left in him.
