Happy Henry

The recent form makes for difficult reading. In the last six races, Happy Henry has finished third and second in among a run of disappointing efforts — those two flashes of promise surrounded by finishes of seventh, eighth, eighth, and fifth. The second place is the most tantalising detail here, suggesting the ability is somewhere inside, but the wins simply have not come.

Nathan Crosse has been the regular partner in the saddle, riding Happy Henry in five of those races together without a win between them. That is not necessarily a reflection on either horse or jockey — sometimes a pairing just needs luck to go their way. The yard, trained by W McCreery out of Rathbride in Co Kildare, has had a productive season with 21 winners sent out, so the infrastructure and expertise are clearly there. Happy Henry just hasn't found a way to add to that tally yet. The horse raced just yesterday, so the yard are keeping it busy and clearly haven't given up on finding the right opportunity.
