The form figures do carry a thread of encouragement, though. Starting from the back of the field — finishing 12th and then 8th in her earliest runs — she has worked her way steadily forward, placing third, then fourth, sixth, and most recently seventh. That kind of gradual improvement is worth noting: she is not flatlining, she is creeping in the right direction. Whether she can take the next step and actually win is the question, but at least the trend is pointing the right way.
She races out of the yard of Gemma Tutty, based in Osmotherley in North Yorkshire. Tutty has sent out 20 winners already this season, which shows this is a stable that knows how to get horses to the line first. The support is there around Gwen Tennyson — it is just a matter of when the horse herself puts it all together. Raced as recently as yesterday, she is clearly in an active campaign, and at three years old there is still plenty of time for the penny to drop.
