Gunner Girl

Her last four races show modest recent form, finishing sixth, eighth, thirteenth, and seventh. She raced just a day ago, which means she is an active runner and presumably fit enough to be racing regularly. The Carey yard has sent out 8 winners this season, so there is some competence in the operation, even if Gunner Girl herself has not yet broken through. At four years old, she is past her debut days; the clock is ticking for her to prove she belongs at this level, though some horses do take time to work out where they fit in the pecking order.

Without a win yet, there is little to hang a story on, but racing is ultimately a business of patience — for some horses, their day comes later rather than sooner.
