Trained by John and Thady Gosden out of Newmarket, Guildmaster is operating in one of the most powerful stables in British racing — a team that has sent out 136 winners already this season. When a horse with that kind of backing wins first time out, it tends to mean something. The Gosdens are not in the habit of running horses before they are ready, so a debut victory suggests this is a horse they believed in from the start.

Guildmaster has been off the track for roughly three months since that Lingfield win, and how the horse returns from that break will tell us a great deal.
