The recent form tells an equally encouraging story. Looking at the last six races — third, first, third, seventh, second, first — the pattern is one of a horse that occasionally blips but keeps bouncing back. That seventh-place run looks like the anomaly rather than the norm, sandwiched as it is between a string of podium finishes. Grey Horizon last ran just yesterday, winning at Bath on 15 July, so it is in the middle of what looks like a productive summer campaign.

Much of that campaign has been spent at Class 6 level, which is the entry-level tier of British racing, and Grey Horizon has thrived there — winning 3 of 8 races at that grade, a rate of 38%. That is dominant by any standard. But what is particularly interesting is the relationship this horse has built with Southwell racecourse. Two wins from just four visits there makes it a genuine course specialist, and Southwell's unique all-weather surface suits certain horses unusually well. Finding that kind of affinity with a track is genuinely valuable, and the team at Scott Dixon's yard will know exactly where to target Grey Horizon when it needs a confidence boost.

Dixon, based in Rolleston in Nottinghamshire, has had a productive season — 33 winners sent out so far, which signals a yard in good form and well-organised. The partnership with jockey Kieran O'Neill has been one of the season's quiet successes: together they have won 5 of 11 races, which is a win rate of 45%, or nearly one in every two times they team up. That is an extraordinary hit rate and suggests genuine chemistry between horse and rider.

Grey Horizon is a three-year-old with a first win dating back to Catterick in October 2025 and seven victories now banked. The trajectory is upward, the form is current, and the combination of a reliable jockey and a yard firing on all cylinders makes this one to watch.
