What makes the current streak even more striking is where it sits in an otherwise unremarkable career. Before these last three races, Green Sky had managed just one win from the previous 18, and that first success came at Ballinrobe back in June 2023. This is a horse that can go quiet for a long time and then suddenly click into gear — and right now it is very much in gear.

The conditions clearly matter. On fast, dry ground, Green Sky has won all three races it has run on that surface — a perfect 3 from 3. That is not a coincidence; it is a pattern worth paying attention to. Whenever the ground dries out and the going gets quick, this horse transforms. At longer distances too — between a mile and six furlongs and two miles — it has won 2 of its 4 races, a 50% win rate that suggests the stamina trip suits it well.

One curiosity worth noting: Green Sky's most common jockey partnership, with J J Slevin across five races together, has yet to produce a win. That is not necessarily anyone's fault — horses and riders can be mismatched by circumstance — but the winning runs have come without that combination clicking into place. Rod Millman's yard in Devon has been in excellent form this season, sending out 42 winners, so the operation around this horse is clearly functioning well.

Green Sky typically races at Class 4 level, which sits in the middle tier of British racing, and has not won there in five attempts. The current winning streak may have come at a different level — which is worth keeping in mind. But three wins in a row is three wins in a row, the ground is dry, and the yard is firing. For a horse that has spent much of its career in the background, this is a fascinating moment.
