His last win came at York on 14 May 2025, now 16 months in the past, and recent form has been a grind. In his last six races he's managed two third-place finishes but otherwise hasn't troubled the winner much. That's the kind of stretch that tests a horse's future—and more importantly, the patience of the people who train and ride him. He runs for Richard Hannon's yard at Herridge in Wiltshire, a stable sending out winners at a rate that proves it knows what it's doing across its string. Sean Levey has ridden him most often, but without much reward: just one win from 12 races together, a 8% win rate that suggests the partnership hasn't quite sparked.

What keeps Great Bedwyn interesting is Hannon's own assessment of him: a big, strong horse with genuine ability up to a mile and a half, and honestly run. The trainer has pencilled him in for handicaps at decent level—the kind of races where a horse with talent but an ordinary record might finally get the conditions and opportunity to flourish. On normal ground, with a race suited to his strengths, there are still wins left in him. The question is whether the next one comes sooner rather than another year from now.
