What makes this worth watching, however, is the yard behind it. Adrian McGuinness trains out of Lusk in County Dublin and has sent out 39 winners already this season — that is the output of a stable in serious form, not one that sends horses out just to make up the numbers. When a trainer is firing in winners at that rate, it tends to mean horses in the yard are fit, well-placed, and ready to run. Granlahan has not yet repaid that backing, but it is racing in good company.
Having raced just yesterday, Granlahan is clearly an active campaign horse right now. Whether a change of conditions, a drop in class, or simply more experience brings improvement remains to be seen — but with a busy trainer in confident form, it would be unwise to write this one off entirely just yet.
