Granlahan

The recent form tells an interesting story. After finishing eleventh and eighth in back-to-back races, Granlahan has clearly found a better level, posting two third-place finishes either side of a fourth. That's a horse gradually working its way into races rather than drifting out of them, which is at least something to hold onto. It raced just yesterday, so it's very much an active part of the string at the moment.

The yard behind it gives genuine cause for optimism. Adrian McGuinness, based at Lusk in County Dublin, has sent out 45 winners already this season — a serious body of work that puts him firmly among the busier trainers operating right now. A trainer firing at that rate clearly knows how to place a horse, and the fact that Granlahan is still being aimed at races suggests McGuinness sees something worth pursuing. Whether the horse can finally convert one of these runs into a win is the question everyone in the yard will be hoping to answer soon.
