Good Man Jack

Trained by Patrick Magee at Shercock in County Cavan, Good Man Jack is part of a yard that has tasted success this season, with eight winners already sent out. The horse's recent form reads 14-8-8-7-9-17 (most recent first), a sequence that reveals he is operating at the lower end of the field. There are small signs of inconsistency — a jump up to 14th place most recently, and a couple of mid-range finishes in eighth — but nothing that suggests a breakthrough is imminent. For a young horse still learning the game, the blank record is not uncommon, yet at this stage of his career, patience is wearing thin. Whether Good Man Jack finds the spark to finally get off the mark remains to be seen, but his the yard will be hoping the experience of six races is beginning to teach him what it takes to get his nose in front.
